Delta Air Lines is making some notable changes to its network.
The Atlanta-based airline filed plans this weekend to exit two notable international routes. The airline will cancel service from Atlanta to Stuttgart, Germany, and from New York to Bogota, Colombia, as first seen in Cirium’s schedule and confirmed by a spokesperson for the airline.
Both cuts take effect on October 26, coinciding with the official start of the airline’s winter season.

The bigger story is the cuts in Stuttgart, as after Delta leaves the market, the German city will no longer be connected to the United States by nonstop flights.
Delta has flown to Stuttgart for more than two decades. The business-focused route connects Mercedes Benz and Porsche’s U.S. headquarters in Atlanta with their main offices in Germany. Delta suspended the route from March 2020 to March 2023 due to the pandemic and is now permanently canceled.

The airline explained the cuts in the following statement: “Delta will discontinue service to and from Stuttgart on October 26, 2024 as we adjust our schedules to accommodate customer demand. Delta customers will be able to travel to and from Stuttgart via Delta partners Air France and KLM. Delta service to Frankfurt, Munich and Berlin will continue.”
This is Delta’s second notable cut in Germany in recent months. Last year, the airline cut flights to Dusseldorf, leaving another German city without a direct connection to the United States. (Germany’s Condor plans to fly just four times a day from New York to Dusseldorf this September and October, according to Cirium’s schedule.)

In addition to the long-haul adjustments, Delta will stop flights between New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) and Bogota, Colombia’s El Dorado International Airport (BOG) at the end of the year. The airline said the cuts are being made “as we adjust our schedules to meet consumer demand.”
While the airline will no longer serve Bogota from New York, it will continue to offer two daily flights to the city from its Atlanta hub.
Travelers can also fly to Bogota through Delta’s joint venture partner LATAM, which offers twice-daily service from Miami and daily service from Orlando to the Colombian capital.
Delta first began flying the route in December 2008, according to Cirium schedules. The airline has operated the route fairly consistently since then, except for two brief pauses — once from 2016 to 2019 and again during the pandemic from March 2020 to December 2020.
