Judge Greg Mathis still not ready to end their 39-year marriage! The TV star told the press that he is trying to get his wife, Linda Reeseafter she filed for divorce earlier this month.
Additionally, Judge Mathis shared about their lives since the filing on August 22. As previously reported, Linda listed their separation date as July 17. She did not go into the details behind the divorce but cited irreconcilable differences.
Judge Mathis said he hopes to win his wife back.
Speaking with TMZ on Friday (August 30) at LAX, Judge Mathis shared his thoughts on pursuing divorce proceedings. After telling the on-the-record reporter that he was doing “good,” he quickly changed his answer, saying it was one of the “worst days” of his life.
“It didn’t last very long. I would say to other men, maybe I’ll be an example to other men, a cautionary tale. Don’t neglect your wife,” he said.
Additionally, he shared that over the past few decades, he has put his wife third after work, community service, and even hanging out with friends.
“Never be too busy, never have too much fun apart from your wife,” Judge Mathis said. He dodged the question of whether the divorce would be protracted. Instead, he explained that he had prioritized work in the past and continued to do so, which required him to travel through LAX. However, he insisted that they were in a good place and could maintain a friendship during this time.
“We’re still living together and we’re still friends, and I’m trying to get my wife back,” he said. “But I have to show her that. Hopefully I can show her that when we’re together. And hopefully she doesn’t complete the process, but I’m changing in the hopes that she will.”

Judge Mathis also denied rumors that he was unfaithful in marriage or other unfounded allegations, including having relationships with minors.
He insisted that infidelity was not the reason for the divorce, but said he would understand why she would have such doubts given his busy work schedule.

While Linda kept the reasons for filing for divorce general, she did get specific about other issues. TMZ first reported that Reese was seeking spousal support while asking the court to bar Judge Mathis from receiving any support.
It’s also unclear whether either party signed a prenuptial agreement before tying the knot in 1985. In addition to his record-breaking 24 seasons as a TV judge, fans also got to know Mathis through his family reality show. Ultimately, ‘Mathis Family Matters’ ran for one season, from June 2022 to August 2022.
The estranged couple have four children, Amir, Jade, Greg Jr and Camara, each in their 30s. None of them have shared their thoughts on their parents’ divorce with any media outlet.
