Bronny James Can’t Call LeBron ‘Dad’ As Teammates


Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James and his son Bronny James will have to adjust the title as teammates next season.

In an excerpt from a new episode of “The Shop” on Uninterrupted, LeBron addresses one of the most anticipated moments when playing with his son: Can Bronny call LeBron “Dad” in the locker room, at practice, and at games?

“[He] “You can’t call me dad at work,” LeBron said.

Bronny has was selected as the 55th overall pick. in the 2024 NBA draft with the Lakers, where his father, LeBron, is entering his seventh season. Before Bronny was drafted, there had never been a dynamic father-son duo playing in the NBA at the same time.

“When we leave the private facility and the gates close, I can be dad again. [and] In the car if we’re together, at home I can be dad,” LeBron said.

LeBron has a lot of options when it comes to what to call the 19-year-old’s father in basketball circles.

“He can call me ‘2-3’ or ‘Bron’ or, you know, ‘GOAT’ if he wants. It’s up to him.

“We couldn’t run down the court, and he’d be like, ‘Dad, push the ball up! Dad, I’m in open position! Dad, go for it!'” LeBron said.

James is entering his 21st season in the NBA with the Lakers after agreeing to return to the club on a two-year, $104 million deal that includes a player option for the 2025-26 season with a non-settlement clause.

Bronny agreed to a four-year, $7.9 million contract with the team opting out in the final year of the contract.
