Chess Master: Praggnanandhaa eyes quarterfinal position


R. Praggnanandhaa needs to be unbeaten against Vidit Gujrathi to qualify for the quarterfinals of Sunday’s Chessable Masters online blitz.

After the 14th and penultimate round, the teen prodigy is 4th with 22 points (from 42) behind frontman Anish Giri (28), Magnus Carlsen (25) and Ding Liren (24).

On the final day of the tournament, Praggnanandhaa defeated the youngest Grandmaster ever, Abhimanyu Mishra, and drew with Sam Shankland.

P. Harikrishna also continues to compete for a place in the quarterfinals. After the loss to Jorden van Foreest, Harikrishna made amends by defeating Abhimanyu. He faces Shankland in the final round.
