Junkyard Gem: 2006 Volvo V50 T5 AWD

While My exploration of junkyard historyI did writing about scrapped Volvo scooters come back mid 1960s. The last brick-shaped, rear-wheel-drive Göteborg carriages were sold in the United States. as 1998 modelsBut the new century brought us a plethora of Volvo long-roofs with front- and four-wheel drive, many of them built with manual transmissions. Here’s one of them: 2006 V50 T5 All Wheel Drive with a six-speed manual transmission, found at a Denver auto junkyard.

The V50 is the wagon version of the S40 sedan. Sales in the United States began with the 2005 model year and discontinued after 2011.

The base 2006 V50 has a naturally aspirated 2.4-liter inline-four, but this car is a T5 and gets a turbocharged 2.5 with 218 horsepower and 236 pound-feet of torque.

A six-speed manual is the base transmission, but of course most V50 buyers in the US opt for the five-speed automatic. But not this car, which should be a lot of fun to drive in the snow.

The Last Year of a Three-Pedal Volvo in the United States is 2013.

There is some body damage, but the interior is still in good condition. We can assume some expensive mechanical issues have landed this car here.

Like many other cars in the Denver area, this one had a Colorado brewery sticker.

There are also some Pitbull dog stickers.
