Flying Lotus Confesses About Creating Two iPhone Ringtones

Flying Lotus recently took to social media X and confessed that “Apple leaked this information so I could say it. I wrote some ringtones that have been on your iPhone since iOS 13.”

Flying Lotus told Exclaim! magazine that he used to make his own ringtones and wanted to create something that would be easy to listen to over and over again.

“One thing that worked in my favor was that I’ve actually made my own ringtones before,” he says. “So I feel like I know what sounds cool when it’s a loop, over and over again. Something that’s alerting, but not annoying. Something that’s musical, but not cheesy. Just finding that balance there, where it’s a little ambient, but also something that stands out,” says Lotus.

Flying Lotus also shared that the Chalet ringtone sound represents “some kind of memory, like you’re listening to an old cassette tape.”
