The most significant update to the KTM 450 SMR is the frame, which now features visible cuts and changes to the wall thickness around the front. The engine and rear shock mounts have also undergone some changes. These upgrades help reduce the bike’s weight, which is 240 pounds empty, while also improving chassis flex and cornering behavior, according to KTM. There are also smaller footpegs to maximize lean angle.

The SMR’s suspension has also been updated for 2025. The previous 48mm AER front forks have been replaced with fully adjustable 48mm WP XACT sealed cartridge springs with a new mid-valve piston concept to optimize oil flow. A new hydraulic stop at the end of the stroke is said to help maintain maximum reserve for situations like high jumps and hard landings. The WP XACT shock returns with an updated linkage that features new seals and smaller diameter linkage bolts. Suspension travel is 11.1 inches up front and 10.4 inches at the rear.
