Will this idiot never destroy this country again?

Giant wind turbines taller than London’s Gherkin are to be built across the English countryside after Ed Miliband rejected calls for height limits.

The Energy Secretary’s decision means turbines up to 850ft high could be built on hills and fields – much taller than London’s 591ft skyscraper.

Mr Miliband has lifted the previous government’s ban on all onshore wind projects in rural England, announcing plans to give himself final say on licensing applications. in an effort to achieve net zero emissions.

An Energy Department spokesman also made clear last week that no height restrictions would be imposed on new turbines, paving the way for larger models being developed by Chinese and other manufacturers. will be built across the UK.

“There is no national limit on the height of turbines in the UK,” he said.

The spokesperson added that “landscape and visual impact must be measured and taken into account”.

It comes after the first approvals for next-generation models were granted in Scotland, where – along with Wales – the Conservatives’ building ban was never applied.

OnPath, formerly known as Banks Renewables, has been granted permission to build 10 machines up to 823ft high at New Cumnock in East Ayrshire, despite objections from local residents and campaign group Scotland Against Spin (SAS) calling for a height limit.
