This manual V12 supercar proves electric isn’t the only way

A manual-transmission, naturally aspirated V12 supercar created by a former Bugatti and Koenigsegg designer sounds like a dream, but new brand Nilu27 is making it a reality.

The NILU supercar uses a 6.5-litre naturally aspirated V12 engine with 798kW of power and 860Nm of torque, developed in collaboration with Hartley Engines in New Zealand.

The engine also features 12 large, individual throttle butterflies for instantaneous throttle response.

The exhaust and intake manifold positions have also been swapped, which the company says improves packaging, cooling, and aesthetics.

The NILU features a carbon fiber monocoque chassis with a lightweight aluminum alloy tubular subframe.

The car uses double wishbone, pushrod suspension and uses Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 R tires – 265/35 R20 at the front, 325/30 R21 at the rear – accompanied by center-lock wheels made in Italy by AppTech.

The car is brought to a stop by a Brembo-sourced carbon ceramic braking system, which includes the company’s highest-performance CCM-R Plus brake discs.

Nilu27 says it prides itself on its commitment to craftsmanship and analog engineering. The new supercar, which is only available with a seven-speed manual transmission, has an analog instrument cluster and just one screen: the rearview mirror.

The interior is simple, with no buttons even on the steering wheel.

The hypercar will make its public debut at Pebble Beach during Monterey Car Week on August 15, 2024, with just 15 prototypes available to select customers.

In addition to the 15-car launch version of NILU, the new company is developing a licensed commercial version, limited to 54 units.

The supercar will also debut in the mobile racing game CSR Racing 2 in November.

Nilu27 was founded by Sasha Selipanov – former chief designer of Koenigsegg – and Inna Selipanov.

The company promises its first supercar will deliver a “raw, unmodified, uncensored driving experience.”

The brand first appeared on Instagram in May 2024, with the first photos of the car being posted to the social network.
