Volkswagen Golf GTI Edition 50 in Malaysia – Oettinger body kit, 50th anniversary accessories, RM269k OTR
Volkswagen Passenger Cars Malaysia (VPCM) has introduced a new limited edition Golf GTI This edition is part of the Golf’s 50th anniversary celebrations.
The GTI Edition 50, as its name suggests, is essentially a standard GTI Mk8 fitted with an Oettinger body kit and a host of other visual enhancements. The body kit includes a front spoiler, a roof spoiler and a rear diffuser, all finished in black.
The car also gets new wheels, in this case 18-inch five-spoke Pretoria alloys finished in gloss black, complete with GTI Dynamic hubcaps and VW Design aluminium valve covers. Other exterior touches include black wing mirror caps, exclusive Edition 50 badging on both the front B-pillars and lower door trims, which are said to be inspired by the GTI’s signature honeycomb pattern.
In terms of exterior colors, the car – which also features VW “Edition 50” wrap – is available in two exclusive colors, Oryx White and Moonstone Grey.
Inside, cabin trim details for this version include the “50” emblem in the middle of the GTI multifunction sports steering wheel, Edition 50 aluminum side protection panels as well as Edition 50 front floor mats.
There are no changes to the powertrain, with the GTI’s standard 245 PS and 370 Nm 2.0-litre TSI turbo engine and seven-speed DSG wet-clutch transmission (with ESC-based XDS electronic differential lock) continuing untouched.
Specifications remain the same as the update from earlier this year, including a 10-speaker, 480-watt Harman Kardon premium audio system and a head-up display. Standard kit includes a 10-inch Discover Media infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, and Vienna leather upholstery.
Finally, the price. The Golf GTI Edition 50 costs RM269,012 on the road without insurance, including Volkswagen Insurance Plan (VAP)offers a five-year, unlimited-mileage manufacturer’s warranty and a five-year, 75,000-mile free service package as well as five years of roadside assistance.
