SHAKUR Stevenson says a fight between him and Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis is certain to happen and that his negotiators have told Tank’s people to shoot for an offer. Although he has yet to receive a response, this does not affect Shakur’s confidence that the fight will happen.
“Like I said, that fight is going to happen. I’m not going to act like it’s not going to happen,” he said. Boxing News.
“Me and him are the best, we’re the best fighters coming. The best fighters in the 135-pound division. There’s no way this fight won’t happen. I know the fans want to scream and say all this. This guy’s ducking, this guy. They want to find someone to say that somebody’s ducking, but I’m not afraid to fight him, he’s not afraid to fight me and it’s going to be a hell of a fight when it happens.”

There are rumors that November 23 will happen, but for a game this big, is that too quick a change? Stevenson doesn’t seem to think so.
“If terms can be agreed and everything makes sense for him and me in terms of business, then the fight is definitely possible,” he added before giving a favourable assessment of Gervonta’s deal with Frank Martin in June.
“I’m not going to tell you all the holes because that would tell him my game plan,” he grinned. “I thought he looked really good against Frank Martin. I thought it was just too high a level for Frank Martin. I thought Tank raised the level and Frank couldn’t compete at that level.”
Of all the big fights that could happen in boxing, Shakur Stevenson believes the fight with Gervonta Davis is the biggest.
“That’s the biggest fight in all of boxing. I don’t think it’s bigger than me and Tank. Maybe Bud and Canelo are right there, but honestly, we’re talking skill for skill. The fight that the fans really want to see, the people who appreciate boxing, the people who love the sport of boxing, that’s the fight. I don’t see a bigger fight than that.”
