Real Madrid will be the last club of my career – Carlo Ancelotti

Carlo Ancelotti said Real Madrid will be the last club in his coaching career, adding that he believes Vinicius Junior worthy to win the Golden Ball.

The Italian coach is under contract with Madrid until June 2026, which will keep him at the Bernabéu beyond his 67th birthday.

“I think this will be my last club,” said Ancelotti speaking to Obi One Podcast.

“Whether there will be a chance for the national team, I don’t know. I’m not too excited about coaching the national team because I would lose what I like most, which is my daily life. I really like what I’m doing.

“This is my 29th season as a coach. Yes, I have won a lot but imagine the number of titles I have lost.”

Ancelotti has managed some of the world’s biggest clubs, winning league titles, domestic cups and European trophies during his time with the club. AC Milan, Chelsea, Paris Saint Germain, Bayern Munich and Madrid.

Ancelotti, who returned to the Bernabéu in 2021 for a second spell in charge, won LaLiga, the Champions League and the Spanish Super Cup last season.

With the Champions League win, Ancelotti extended his record as the most successful coach in the history of the continental competition with five titles.

Brazil Star Vinícius played a key role in helping Madrid win their 15th European Championship.

Ancelotti believes Vinícius, who has scored six goals and assisted five in 10 Champions League appearances, is the frontrunner for the prestigious Ballon d’Or award.

“I think Vinícius will win because he is a talented player and played very well last season,” he said.

“That’s true [Real Madrid defender Dani] Carvajal also did very well. Carvajal won the league, the Champions League, scored in the final and won the European Championship [with Spain].

“But Vinícius is young, talented, has a good image… He won the league and the Champions League, scored two goals in the semi-final and scored in the final.

“Jude [Bellingham] also had a great season. He was a big surprise. Best player in the [domestic] League.”

Madrid have strengthened their attack this summer with the arrival of End And Kylian Mbappe.

“We have built a great squad,” said Ancelotti. “When Cristiano Ronaldo left in 2018, year after year we were able to bring in great young players.

“Vinícius, Rodrygo And [Fede] Valverde, then [Eduardo] Camavinga, [Aurélien] TchouameniBellingham, Arda Guler and now Kylian Mbappe.

“We have a great squad, with great young talent. But the key is the spirit that the veterans can keep in the squad, like Carvajal… This bond has been really good to achieve success in the last few years.”

Ancelotti does not expect Mbappe, who participated Los Blancos as a free agent After his contract with PSG expired, he had problems adapting to the squad.

“I don’t think it will be a problem,” he said. “The bottom line is that every player has to give his talent to the team and his teammates. For Kylian Mbappé, it will be exactly the same.”
