Paris 2024 Olympic Golf Odds, Picks, Courses: Surprising Predictions From Golf Model Called Major 13

The Paris 2024 Olympic golf course will look like a feature event with a number of top-ranked players competing at Le Golf National, starting on Thursday. Eight of the top 10 players will play in the 2024 Olympic men’s golf tournament, including four Americans: Scottie Scheffler, Xander Schauffele, Collin Morikawa and Wyndham Clark. Scheffler is the favorite at +300 to win the gold medal, while Tokyo 2020 Olympic gold medalist Schauffele is second on the golf odds board at +525.

The Americans will face stiff competition from the likes of Spain’s Jon Rahm and Ireland’s Rory McIlroy, both of whom are +700 in the latest Paris 2024 Olympics golf odds. Other underdogs to consider for 2024 Summer Olympics golf bets include host nation France’s Matthieu Pavon (+4500) and Chinese Taipei’s CT Pan (+10000), who is the only Olympic medalist in the field other than Schauffele, thanks to Pan’s bronze medal win in Tokyo. SportsLine’s proprietary model, built by DFS expert Mike McClure, has been wildly popular since the PGA Tour resumed play in June 2020. In fact, the model has raised nearly $9,000 on its best bets since the restart, winning every tournament.

The model also won 13 majors over the weekend, including the 2024 Masters — its third consecutive Masters — and this year’s PGA Championship and US Open. Anyone who followed the model saw huge returns.

Now that the 2024 Summer Olympics are underway, SportsLine has simulated the tournament 10,000 times and the results are surprising. Visit SportsLine now for projected standings.

Top predictions for golf at the Paris 2024 Olympics

The big surprise the model is calling for at the 2024 Olympic Golf Tournament: McIlroy (+700), a four-time major winner on the PGA Tour and a top favorite, stumbled this week and didn’t even crack the top five. McIlroy is coming off a disappointing British Open in which he missed the cut. He shot 11 over par, his third-worst score at any major in his 51 career major appearances. It was the first time McIlroy missed the cut in the 2024 PGA Tour season, but he last missed the cut in 2023, then struggled again in his next event, finishing 47th.

McIlroy tied for third after 72 holes at the 2020 Tokyo Olympic golf tournament, putting him in a seven-goal play-off for bronze. However, his struggles in the final stretch of major tournaments were also evident at that Games, as he crashed out on the third hole of the sudden-death play-off and missed out on a medal. Unfortunately for McIlroy, major tournament decline has been a recurring theme since his last major win a decade ago, so this model suggests better options with 2024 Olympic golf bets. See who else to fade here.

Another surprise: Tommy Fleetwood (England), a +2000 prospect, had a strong run for gold. He was in contention for a medal at the Tokyo Olympics, entering the final round in the top 10. However, he has had a bit of a slump, finishing 16th, although he still broke par in all four rounds. Fleetwood has been one of the most consistent players in the world over the past year, consistently ranking in the top 15 of the World Rankings since August 2023. He also has strengths that could translate well to Le Golf National, which is famous for its tight, undulating fairways, with Fleetwood ranking in the top 10 in both driving accuracy and total drives.

Fleetwood used those strengths to win on the course in 2017 at the Open de France. His most recent start at Le Golf National was at the 2018 Ryder Cup, where he was one of the stars of the event, leading Team Europe to victory. Playing in his first Ryder Cup, Fleetwood has a 4-1 overall record, winning both his better-ball and foursome matches. Additionally, he has three top-10 finishes in his last six starts at major tournaments, so he has shown the ability to compete with the best, making him a potential pick for men’s golf bets at the 2024 Olympics.
