The 2025 Ford Maverick Facelift Finally Lets You Get an All-Wheel Drive Hybrid

Ford heard its cry. compact unibody truck Buyer. Refresh Maverick Pickup Now with the option of combining Ford’s powerful 2.5-liter hybrid engine with all-wheel drive Hippies. Our problem is over!

The Maverick has been a huge success for Ford.. Last year, the Blue Oval sold 94,000 Mavericks, more than half of them hybrids. The company has sold 77,000 Mavericks this year. Ford found that most customers weren’t even truck buyers before they bought a Maverick, reinforcing Ford’s view that it’s a compact sedan competitor and crossovers. It’s really the way to go for outdoor parties.

This 2.5-liter hybrid engine makes 191 horsepower and 151 pound-feet of torque, and is paired with an electronic CVT. With the tow package, the Maverick can tow 4,000 pounds in the rear and 1,500 pounds in the bed, or 1,400 pounds if the Maverick has all-wheel drive. The 2.0 EcoBoost is also still available, with 238 horsepower and 275 pound-feet, an eight-speed transmission, and the same towing capacity as the hybrid. Front-wheel drive is still standard on the hybrid, but the EcoBoost is now AWD only.

You can get the Maverick in black from the dealer with the new Black Package, which includes a black hood, black 19-inch wheels, and other black trim. There are all sorts of minor styling updates for the 2025 Maverick, like new L-shaped headlights, different bumper designs, and silver accents for a more upscale look on the XLT and Lariat. It looks like the gloss finish is still reserved for those with higher trims. And now you can get it in green!

Inside, the Maverick also gets a tech update, with a larger 13.2-inch display (you guessed it!) replacing the old 8-inch unit. It’ll come in handy for towing with Pro Trailer Hitch Assist and Pro Trailer Backup Assist, which are standard on higher trims, and a 360-degree camera system is now available on higher trims. The Maverick can also be equipped with a suite of Level 2 autonomous driving features like adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go and lane-keeping. The Tremor has this neat interior, accented with orange in a way that reminds you of kicked-up mud or a leaky can of spray paint.

With a starting price of $27,890 (including $1,595 for destination), the updated Maverick is more expensive than last year’s model, but it’s still the cheapest truck available—that is, if you can find one without a significant dealer markup. Pricing for higher trim levels hasn’t been announced yet. There are the familiar XL, XLT, and Lariat models, and Tremor off-road package now tops the Maverick line as the top-of-the-line version.

Ford says the 2025 Mavericks will be available to order starting August 1 and are expected to arrive in dealerships by the end of 2024. Also joining the Maverick lineup is the new Lobo, a street-legal performance model inspired by the SEMA show car.
