By any measure the First Generation Dodge Viper is a great car. Fast, loud and flashy, it is perfect american car. Unfortunately, everyone knew this, so the first Vipers often terribly expensive. Are not alwaysalthough. Sometimes you come across a Viper like thiswhere the seller in Maine is asking just $12,000 for America’s favorite son. It’ll take a little work to get it into good condition, but it’ll be worth it. Maybe.
This Viper, like many of its kind, has seen better days. The rear end is cracked and missing a taillight, the paint is rough, and the overall body paneling is worse than it came from the factory. This Viper also has a “rebuildable” designation, which certainly shows how much work it needs.
The seller says a new rear deck is included, but there’s no mention of taillights, rear body panels, or front bumper. At full asking price, this would be a travesty, but this Viper is too cheap. At least it’s worth trying to rebuild.
Or, for that money, do something crazy. Take the car, strip off the remaining body panels, and run it like a Viper. go-kart superleggera. Imagine how cool that engine would be without any soundproofing. Wanna try it.
