Mercedes-Benz Malaysia Donates Four Electric Vehicles to Tengku Zafrul as part of its mission to ‘Accelerate Net Zero Emissions’ under NIMP 2030

Mercedes-Benz Malaysia recently donated four Mercedes-Benz EQ battery electric vehicles to Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz, the company revealed.

The electric vehicles submitted to the minister are: EQS 500 4Matic, EQS 580 4Matic SUVMercedes-AMG EQS 53 4Matic+and the EQS 500 4Matic SUV, as a means to experience electric vehicles with Mercedes-Benz electric vehicles, towards the mission of “Accelerating the goal of net zero emissions” according to the New Industrial Master Plan 2030 (NIMP 2030).

“We will create the prerequisites for a CO2-neutral new car fleet by 2039, while the pace of the transition will be determined by market conditions and customer demand. We are confident that with the full support from our stakeholders, we will not only contribute to a cleaner environment but also drive economic growth in the industry,” said Mercedes-Benz Malaysia CEO and President Amanda Zhang.

In Malaysia, fully imported electric vehicles (CBU) exemption from import tax and excise tax until December 31, 2025, while domestically assembled (CKD) electric vehicles continue to be exempted for another two years, that is, until December 31, 2027.
