Big news for yacht fans: Three more giant ships are on the way.
Carnival Cruise Line announced on Tuesday that it has ordered three massive new ships. They will be among the largest cruise ships ever built.
Scheduled to debut between 2029 and 2033, the three ships will be Carnival’s largest ever, at 230,000 gross tons. That’s about 25 percent larger than the largest Carnival ships currently in operation.

There are only three cruise ships currently in operation with a gross tonnage greater than 230,000 tonnes: Caribbean Royal‘s recently published Symbol of the Sea, Utopia of the sea And Wonders of the sea.
Carnival has released few details about the new ships beyond their size and cabin capacity. The ships will have 3,000 cabins and can accommodate nearly 8,000 passengers at full capacity, the company said.

That’s more than any ship in Carnival’s history.
“For this next-generation ship, we are focused on creating innovative guest experiences that will take Carnival Cruise Line into the future with exciting new features and excitement that we know guests will love,” Carnival president Christine Duffy said in a statement accompanying the announcement.
Carnival said the first ship will debut in 2029, with the next two in the series debuting in 2031 and 2033, respectively.
The order comes just months after Carnival placed an order for two more ships in the Excel Class series, which will enter service in 2027 and 2028.

Carnival has grown rapidly over the past two years as its business has grown rapidly. In addition to adding new ships to its fleet, the company has also added older ships that are being transferred to the brand from sister lines.
Carnival said Tuesday that the newly announced ship order is subject to financing, which is expected to be completed by the end of the year.
