EVx 2024: Chery Omoda E5 with EV Connection Autocharge, Exclusive Offer at SCCC This Weekend
The paultan.org The Electric Vehicle Expo (EVx) is taking place this weekend at the Setia City Convention Centre in Setia Alam, Selangor, and it is the premier exhibition for all things electric vehicles in Malaysia.
Joining the list of auto brands at EVx 2024 is Chery, which has Omoda E5 Electric Vehicle on display at the brand’s booth. More than just a battery-powered version of the popular Omoda 5 petrol SUV, the E5 is the only electric vehicle in Malaysia to feature AutoCharge, which means you don’t need an app, card or smartphone to charge at public charging points – just plug it in.
As a result of a collaboration between Chery and charging point operator JomCharge EV Connection, the Omoda E5 is the first EV in Malaysia to support this function. It only needs to be activated once, and there are more than 200 DC fast charging points that support this function.
Energy in the Omoda E5 is stored in a 61 kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) unit, which has a range of 430 km on the WLTP cycle, powering a front-mounted drive motor that produces 204 PS and 340 Nm of torque, taking the SUV from 0-100 km/h in 7.2 seconds and on to a top speed of 172 km/h.
The Omoda E5 can charge AC up to 9.9 kW and DC fast charging up to 80 kW, which can fully charge the battery from 30-80% in 28 minutes. With 3.3 kW vehicle-to-load (V2L) charging capability, the Omoda E5 can also function as a mobile power source.
In terms of driver assistance systems, the Omoda E5 is equipped with a 360-degree camera, automatic headlights, lane departure warning, adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning and prevention, lane keeping assist, rear cross-traffic alert, and a tire pressure monitoring system.
