Joe Biden, allies furious as Democrats try to push him out: ‘They’re Julius Caesar-ing this man’

Alternative Campaign Joe Biden on the Democratic ticket appeared to gain some momentum this week, as senior Democrats publicly called on the president to step aside and others expressed their feelings through not-so-secret channels. But according to the campaign, Biden is absolutely still in the race—and those trying to push him out should take a hard look in the mirror.

“Can we remember for a minute that the people who are trying to push Joe Biden out are the same people who really gave us everything Donald Trump,“A source close to Biden told NBC News. “In 2015, [Barack] Obama, [Nancy] Pelosi, [Chuck] Schumer push Biden aside to support Hillary [Clinton]; They were wrong then, and they’re wrong now.” Noting polls showing Clinton up by as much as nine points, the source added: “How did all this play out for people in 2016? Maybe we should learn a few lessons from 2016; one is that the polls are BS—just ask Secretary Clinton. And two, maybe, just maybe, Joe Biden has more of a connection with real Americans than Obama-Pelosi-Schumer?”

Speaking to Politico, a former Biden campaign and administration aide said, “People who have known this man for 30, 40 years are stabbing this man from the front to the back.… They’re stabbing this man like Julius Caesar.” Biden, for his part, reportedly feels “angry” and “personally hurt and betrayed by the way so many Democrats… have abandoned him,” according to NBC News. And, despite reports earlier this week that the president has “become more receptive over the last few days to hearing arguments about why he should abandon his reelection bid,” it’s clear he hasn’t changed his mind.

Appearing on MSNBC this morning, campaign manager Jen O’Malley Dillon speak Morning Joe said Biden was “in it to win” and believed “he can do this.”

Unfortunately for Biden, it’s clear that not everyone agrees. On Friday, four other House Democrats publicly called on him to “pass the torch.”

And according to NBC News, there could be a “bigger push” from the party if Biden doesn’t drop out on Monday. On Friday, Biden, who is quarantining in Delaware after testing positive for COVID, said he would “return to the campaign trail next week” to defend “my own record and the vision that I have for America.”
