A giant disco ball circled the outer deck with the help of drones, purple and blue pieces of paper rained down on passengers in such great numbers that it was hard to see, and recording artist Meghan Trainor raised a glass of 90-degree champagne to the audience. “This is an incredible ship,” said Michael Bayley, president and CEO of Royal Caribbean. “… eight neighborhoods… 40 restaurants, endless pools and hot tubs, amazing entertainment… that’s why Utopia of the Seas is called ‘The World’s Greatest Weekender.’”
The term is very appropriate, as Utopia of the Seas will focus on short trip – something cruise lines typically reserve for older ships. Royal Caribbean has recently started using some of its flashiest ships for shorter trips, with the aim of attracting first-time cruisers who might not feel comfortable sailing for a full week.

Like previous Oasis-class ships, Utopia of the Seas is designed with multiple “neighborhoods” including Boardwalk and Central Park.
Among the venues found on previous Oasis Class ships that are returning are the Rising Tide Bar, which “floats” on hydraulics between the ship’s Royal Promenade and Central Park neighborhoods; the Boardwalk neighborhood’s Ferris wheel and Abyss Slide Ultimatespiral down 10 floors; and the amazement Superior Family SuiteIdeal for parents with young children, offering separate bedrooms, a play space with games and a slide that takes children from the bedroom down to the living room below.
Expected to launch at least through 2026, Utopia of the Seas will offer three- and four-night sailings to the Bahamas, Perfect Day at CocoCay and the Western Caribbean from Port Canaveral.
