The Zeekr 7X has been revealed in China as the brand’s first family-friendly SUV with seating for up to five people. Previously codenamed CX1EThe 7X is expected to go on sale later this year and retail for between 240,000 and 350,000 yuan (about RM154,000 to RM225,000), according to Car NewsChina.

When launched, the SUV will compete with rivals in the same segment as the Tesla Model Y, Li Auto L6 as well as the upcoming Xiaomi MX11. Preliminary details show that the 7X is based on the same PMA2+ platform (derived from Geely’s Sustainable Experience Architecture) as the Car 007with 800V electrical architecture to support super-fast DC charging.

Like 007, the 7X’s exterior features some of the brand’s signature touches, such as an interactive light strip just above the main headlights. Elsewhere, you’ll find roof-mounted LiDAR sensors, fender-mounted sensors and full-width ‘Super Red’ taillights. Another departure from the sedan is the use of pop-out door handles rather than touch-sensitive buttons built into the pillars, presumably to make the cabin easier for children to access.

In terms of dimensions, the 7X is 4,825 mm long, 1,930 mm wide, 1,656 mm tall and has a wheelbase of 2,925 mm. For comparison, the 007 is similarly sized at 4,880 mm long and 1,900 mm wide, while its wheelbase is 2,928 mm. Compared to its rivals, the 7X is larger than the Model Y but smaller than Li Auto’s L6.

There were no photos of the interior at the Zeekr’s debut, but spy shots show a minimalist cabin with a curved dashboard, a floating central infotainment touchscreen, and a different steering wheel design than current Zeekr models, including the 007.

For the drivetrain, the silicon carbide electric motor draws power from batteries chemically composed of lithium iron phosphate (LFP) or nickel manganese cobalt (NMC). According to the report, Car NewsChinaLower-end variants will use ‘Golden Brick’ LFP batteries that can charge from 10-80% in just 15 minutes. More expensive variants will get CATL-sourced NMC battery packs – two battery chemistries that mirror those offered with the 007.

We don’t know the exact range figures yet, but if the 007 is any indication, we could see it do over 600km under the generous CLTC standard. Zeekr has claimed that the 7X will be available with a dual-motor setup rated at 646PS (637hp or 475kW), good for a 0-62mph time of under four seconds. Again, those figures are similar to the 007, namely with all-wheel drive. The 7X will also come with a single-motor, rear-wheel drive powertrain.
