Belmont Stakes day handle increases 6.3% from 2023
The June 8 Belmont Stakes day card—conducted at Saratoga Race Course first time and marked by Dornoch his victory in the 156th running of the $2 million Belmont Stakes (G1)—generated from all sources $125,748,941, a New York Racing Association record for a Belmont card in a year without a Triple Crown.
That’s up more than 6.3% from the previous non-Triple Crown record of $118,283,455, set in 2023 when the event takes place in its familiar home at Belmont Park. The four-day Belmont Stakes racing festival has been moved Saratoga Race Course this year due to ongoing construction at Belmont.
The road handle for the 14-race card, which includes six Grade 1 races out of nine total stakes, is $14,854,311. A sellout crowd of up to 50,000 people was present.
The all-source handling of the Belmont Stakes itself reached $60,904,557.
