Top US Open 2024 predictions
A big surprise the model is calling for at the 2024 US Open: Brooks Koepka (12-1), two-time US Open champion and one of the top favorites, stumbled and barely rounded out the top 10. Koepka has a total of five major championships but he hasn’t been a major factor in major tournaments since that last win at the 2023 PGA Championship. In the four majors since Meanwhile, his best result was 17th at last year’s US Open. Koepka has finished outside the top 25 in his last three major league starts, which leaves him facing a career-long drought.
He has finished outside the top 15 in four straight starts in the majors and has struggled overall this season. In his last eight tournament starts, he has twice as many finishes outside the top 25 (four) as he has finishes inside the top 10 (two). Plus, he’s overachieved in his only previous start at No. 2 at Pinehurst and has much better value to use in betting on the 2024 US Open. Look who’s weak here.
Another surprise: Justin Thomas, a 33-1 long shot, won the title strongly. He has a much better chance of winning than the long odds imply, so he’s a target for anyone looking for a huge payday. Thomas has played excellent golf in recent weeks. He finished T-5 at the RBC Heritage and finished T-8 at the PGA Championship.
Thomas is a two-time major champion and enters the 2024 US Open at Pinehurst ranked seventh in birdie average (4.43), seventh in strokes gained: reaching the green (0.697) and 13th in pars. strokes gained: total (0.952).
