US Open 2024 picks, odds, field: Surprising predictions from proven PGA golf model that hits 12 majors

Scottie Scheffler will attempt to win his second major of the year when he tees off at the 2024 U.S. Open at Pinehurst Resort & Country Club’s Course No. 2. Play will begin on Thursday, June 13. Scheffler has struggled in 2024 , winning four of his last seven starts on the PGA Tour, including the green jacket his second at the Masters. He also won two T-2 championships in that span, and his worst finish since February was a T-10 at the Genesis Invitational. The world No. 1 ranked player is a 4-1 favorite according to the latest 2024 US Open odds.

Scheffler is followed by major champions Rory McIlroy (9-1), Xander Schauffele (10-1), Brooks Koepka (12-1) and Jon Rahm (12-1) on the PGA odds table. Our exclusive model, built by DFS expert Mike McClure, has been extremely hot since the PGA Tour resumed in June 2020. In fact, it’s grown nearly $9,000 for Best bets since the restart, tournament after tournament.

McClure’s model correctly predicted Scheffler would top the leaderboard at the 2024 Masters, the Arnold Palmer Invitational and this season’s The Players Championship. McClure also included Hideki Matsuyama in his list of best bets to win the 2024 Genesis Invitational. That bet came in at +9000, and for the entire tournament, McClure’s best bet returned nearly 1,000. dollars.

The model also predicted Rahm to win at the 2023 Sentry Tournament of Champions and The American Express. At the 2023 Masters, the model picked up the second biggest win of Rahm’s career over the weekend . Rahm trailed the lead by two strokes heading into the third round, but the model still predicted him as the winner. This is the second consecutive Masters championship for the model, and also gives Scheffler a win in 2022.

This same pattern has also hit a whopping 12 majors entering the weekend, including the last three Masters and the 2024 PGA Championship. Anyone who has followed it has moved on.

Top US Open 2024 predictions

A big surprise the model is calling for at the 2024 US Open: Brooks Koepka (12-1), two-time US Open champion and one of the top favorites, stumbled and barely rounded out the top 10. Koepka has a total of five major championships but he hasn’t been a major factor in major tournaments since that last win at the 2023 PGA Championship. In the four majors since Meanwhile, his best result was 17th at last year’s US Open. Koepka has finished outside the top 25 in his last three major league starts, which leaves him facing a career-long drought.

He has finished outside the top 15 in four straight starts in the majors and has struggled overall this season. In his last eight tournament starts, he has twice as many finishes outside the top 25 (four) as he has finishes inside the top 10 (two). Plus, he’s overachieved in his only previous start at No. 2 at Pinehurst and has much better value to use in betting on the 2024 US Open. Look who’s weak here.

Another surprise: Justin Thomas, a 33-1 long shot, won the title strongly. He has a much better chance of winning than the long odds imply, so he’s a target for anyone looking for a huge payday. Thomas has played excellent golf in recent weeks. He finished T-5 at the RBC Heritage and finished T-8 at the PGA Championship.

Thomas is a two-time major champion and enters the 2024 US Open at Pinehurst ranked seventh in birdie average (4.43), seventh in strokes gained: reaching the green (0.697) and 13th in pars. strokes gained: total (0.952). According to the model, his recent form, combined with his long odds, makes Thomas a valuable player to include in your US Open bets. See who else to come back to here.
