The dog doesn’t feel like he deserves to be rescued because his owner betrayed him
Adopting a dog is a big responsibility. It takes a patient, loving person to understand the true nature of a dog and love them. The reality is that dogs need to work. And sadly, many irresponsible, self-centered people only consider their own wants and needs when adopting a pet. Being a pet owner is a challenging role, but our animals are worth it! This is exactly why dog ownership is not suitable for everyone. If a person lacks the compassion necessary to care for these animals, they should not adopt. This story revolves around Bo, a dog who was abandoned by his cruel former owner and left alone in a dog cage in the yard. When Bo was discovered by Street Dog Rescue in Oklahoma, he was experiencing many health problems.
One of the rescuers, Faith, told The Dodo: “Bo was attacked by a coyote. He had never been seen by a vet and he was covered in mange.” The rescue team fed him, and it was clear he hadn’t eaten in a while. From the way he interacted with them, Faith could tell that he craved affection deeply. After eating, Bo retreated to the dog cage and refused to come out. The rescue team realized they needed to remove him. They managed to lure him out of the doghouse, only for Bo to hide underneath it. Faith and her team gently tried to retrieve him again, but he resisted.
It took about 45 minutes to get Bo out of the house. He is then transferred to rescue Pyr Paws and Fluffy Tails. During his recovery, Bo was treated for mange at a veterinary clinic in Oklahoma and nursed back to health.
When Patricia, its future owner, first saw its photo, she was surprised by its condition. But over time, Bo’s health improved significantly. A few months later, he transformed into a healthier, happier dog. The rescuers believed the dog deserved a dedicated owner and Patricia, who had experience with rescue dogs, felt ready to take on the responsibility. Although it took about six months to fully accept his new home, he eventually adjusted and became the happy puppy he was always wanted to be!
