Ducati Desmo450 MX
Development of the new Ducati motorcycle, the Desmo450 MX, continues. Over the weekend, Alessandro Lupino finished in second place in the Italian Motocross Championship at the Miravalle Circuit of Montevarchi.
The opening race was less successful, with Lupino forced to retire after colliding with another rider, after starting fast and competing for third place.
He performed well in the second race, setting off with another fast start and racing to second. With this result, the Viterbo driver has consolidated 3rd place in the championship standings.
Although not as strong as its victory in Mantua in March, the prototype continues to prove itself ahead of its production launch in 2025, the first step towards the birth of the new Borgo Panigale off-road motorcycle range .
The Montevarchi race allowed Ducati engineers to collect more valuable data to support the development of the Desmo450 MX, a model whose racing performance confirmed the technical basis of the prototype.
The next round of the Italian Motocross Championship is scheduled for June 22-23 on the Ponte a Egola (PI) track. During the month-long break, Alessandro Lupino and Tony Cairoli, present in Montevarchi to support their brand friend, will continue the Desmo450 MX testing program.
Ducati is not the only European motorcycle brand taking steps towards the production of mainstream motorcycle models through race development by 2024. British brand Triumph is competing in both the Championship AMA Supercross and Pro Motocross with the TF 250-X, where the company achieved good results with Jalek Swoll.
