Earlier today, a popular online retailer accidentally posted some key specifications of the upcoming Canon EOS R1 mirrorless camera before removing them after a few hours. Given the reasonableness of the specifications and the reputation of the retailer, you can be sure that these specifications are accurate. Here’s what was listed:
- High-speed autofocus and exposure are enhanced by AI recognition
- Predict moving object trajectory, intelligent object lock focus tracking with high success rate
- 30 MP full-frame stacked dual gain sensor
- The fully electronic rolling shutter is faster than any mechanical rolling shutter
- Flash sync time 1/1,250 second (read time <0.8 microsecond)
- Added CRAW 1:3 lossy compression (vs. lossless compression)
- Unlimited continuous shooting 40 fps (1:2 CRAW) / 60 fps (1:3 CRAW)

Overall, they show what we’ve come to expect from a 1 Series camera, namely class-leading autofocus, the company’s fastest continuous shooting speed, and a reasonable sensor resolution but no so large, providing high dynamic range, making it ideal for applications. such as sports and journalism photography.
