Grizzlies’ Ja Morant Rehearsed Full, Suspicious for Game 3
LOS ANGELES — Grizzly Memphis star Ja Morant fully participated in Friday afternoon practice and will be listed as problematic in Game 3 of the team’s first series against the team. Los Angeles Lakers.
Morant missed Game 2 of the series on Wednesday with a sore right hand he fell in Game 1 last weekend.
Grizzlies coach Taylor Jenkins said Morant is doing “a lot better than he was two days ago” and can dribble and shoot in individual exercises and non-contact scenarios.
“He just needs to catch the ball,” said Jenkins.
The team will make a final decision on his availability on Saturday after Morant undergoes a shootout.
“Fortunately things are improving, but we want to make sure he feels confident,” Jenkins said.
Morant was injured while landing on his wrist after trying to dash through the center of the Lakers Anthony Davis in a hard hit to the basket in Game 1.
When asked if Morant might have to be more cautious with his strong, high-flying approach to this wrist injury, teammate Desmond Bane laughed and said, “I mean, that’s the way he plays. He works hard on his body to be able to handle those games. I love his play and his mentality. I don’t think so. he should change a bit.”
