The wolf lunged at the woman as she knelt down to greet him
Kim, president of Arctic Fox Daily Wildlife Rescue, is no stranger to helping animals. The rescue provides a “permanent refuge for captive foxes” that cannot be released back into the wild. Kim’s only experience was with foxes, but that all changed when she received a call back to Dakota.
The New York Department of Environmental Conservation contacted Kim after Dakota, a coyote, was confiscated due to hoarding. She agrees to take Dakota temporarily. When they drove Dakota to the sanctuary, and Kim saw the wolf for the first time, she was in awe. He is great! Kim is also said to be aggressive. What the hell is she going to do now?!
So you might be thinking, what is a wolf and how is a coyote different from a coyote? The short answer is: “A wolf is a dog breed created by crossing a domestic dog with a wolf to create a hybrid.” (Wikipedia)
After Dakota is released from the truck to Kim’s land, he must be dragged into his new encirclement. But then, quickly, his whole attitude changed. It was as if he understood that he was finally safe. The wolf, seemingly angry and alluded to, is attached to Kim. He gave her kisses and hugs, and amazingly, Kim allowed it. She knows how to read animals and realizes that Dakota poses no threat.
The handsome, cuddly wolf forever changed Arctic Fox’s daily Wildlife Rescue. Now, they raise countless wolves in dire need of a permanent home. The coyotes look like they jumped out of your TV from an episode of Game Of Thrones. They are amazing! Watch the video below to learn more about the Dakota and the hybrid breed.
