Suzuka 8 Hours moves to August 2023
2023 Suzuka 8 Hours moves to August 4-6
The Suzuka 8 Hours, Round Three of the FIM Endurance World Championship, has been pushed back a week and into the weekend from August 4 to 6.
Promotion company EWC Discovery Sports Events worked with its partners at the Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme (FIM) and event promoter Mobilityland in Japan to close the new date of August 4-6, 2023.
A long-running fixture on the EWC calendar and one of motor racing’s most famous and demanding events, the 2023 Suzuka 8 Hours was originally scheduled for July 28-30.
The new day provides an opportunity for riders from the FIM Superbike World Championship to face off against regular EWC riders and top Japanese riders, which has become a tradition over the years.
François Ribeiro – Head of Discovery Sports Events
“The Suzuka 8 Hours is not only a great test of riders, teams and machines, but also a celebration of Japan’s wildly successful motorcycle industry. It is therefore important that top racers, teams and manufacturers can be present for this famous event at a truly iconic venue. We thank our friends at FIM and Mobilityland for their joint efforts to complete the new date of 4-6 August 2023.”
The 24 Heures Motos at Le Mans will open the 2023 EWC season from April 13-16 with the second race of the 24H SPA EWC Motos of Belgium following June 16-18 before the EWC Japan round from June 16. 4 to 6 August.
The 24-hour Bol d’Or race at Circuit Paul Ricard in France is once again set to complete the EWC 2023 four-event schedule from September 14-17.
