Random: Looks like Masahiro Sakurai wants a child Icarus: Port Rebellion as much as we do
Masahiro Sakurai came up with another video through him ‘Masahiro Sakurai on making games’ YouTube channel, this time looking at the difficulty setting implementation.
Focused mainly on 3DS action titles Kid Icarus: Rebellion, Sakurai explains the concept of risk and reward according to difficulty, diving into the ‘Cauldron’ mechanism to allow for a gradual increase in difficulty. It’s a fascinating look at a rather unconventional alternative to the usual “easy/normal/hard” settings we’re all familiar with; outside of Smash Bros. franchise, we’re really surprised that many games haven’t implemented something like that yet.
At the end of the video, Sakurai expresses her desire to see Kid Icarus: Uprising on a home console – most likely the Switch – stating:
“Definitely it would be great to play Kid Icarus: Uprising on the home console. I wonder if someone will port it?”
Maybe, if someone is going to port the game, it will probably be a team at Nintendo or maybe Bandai Namco Studios, but Sakurai herself has previously stated that the game’s remake or sequel will be “difficult”., cast doubt that a port will materialize. Having said that, his words in this latest video sound more hopeful, so who knows!
