Hands-on experience with ‘World’s Best Pocket Camera’

There is a quiet rise of small, pocketable cameras when it comes to popularity. In this video, James Popsys gives his thoughts on the little Ricoh after spending some time shooting with it. So if you’re looking to buy one, check it out.

The Ricoh GR IIIx It’s a modern take on older point-and-shoot cameras, except it’s more aimed at hobbyists and professionals. It has a 24.2-megapixel APS-C sensor, which is the 35mm equivalent of a 40mm f/2.8 lens, and is packed with features. For a haircut under $1,000, it’s worth a look if you’re looking for a small camera that isn’t your cell phone.

James Popsys used Ricoh for 4 7 11 weeks and having done several shoots, get a real feel for what it can produce. I have to admit, I was a bit annoyed with these small cameras, especially given the power of mobile phones these days. However, I do wanted one and the more I thought about it, the more I realized that maybe the phone was acting as an input drug. That they are showing us how much we would use the camera if it were accessible enough.
