Hertz partners with BP for EV chargers in North America
Hertz said on Tuesday that it had partnered with oil giant BP to install it tram charging stations across North America to power a fleet of eco-friendly vehicles.
The car rental The company, which did not disclose the terms of the deal, aims to electrify a quarter of its fleet by the end of 2024.
Hertz bought large-scale EVs from Tesla, GM and Polestar amid increasing consumer preference for electric vehicles. It has laid out plans to have 3,000 charging stations in North America by the end of 2022.
Under the agreement, BP Pulse will manage the EV charging centers, which will be open to Hertz customers as well as the public.
BP Pulse aims to install more than 100,000 chargers globally by 2030, with about 90% of them being fast or ultrafast chargers.
Shares of Hertz were up 3.8% at $16.31 before the bell.
