A new brand Zelda trailers always bring a lot of excitement and have an extra layer of jubilation with the latest The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom trailers – one because we have a name, and two, we have a release date – May 12, 2023! But what is everyone? really Then there are the theories. The answers. And one fan claims to have figured out what some of the Zonai scripts say in the trailer, which might give us a few clues.
Continue GameOver Jesse’s Hylian Gamescast (share via GameXplain and GoNintendo), one fan offered a potential answer on the meaning of this short piece of text. The Zonai Tribe is one of the biggest takeaways from Tears of the Kingdom – too bad we even focused on them a lot when tearing up the relatively short trailer. But this text in particular has kept fans translating for weeks, with many on various Zelda sub-credits trying to decipher it.
The part of the trailer is mentioned at approx 37 seconds laterbut we’ve taken a quick snapshot of the important part for you, with the Zonai script on the right.
Translating any fictional language in the game is usually a pretty intensive process, but Zonai’s writing in particular has people reeling. However, according to this listener, they believe that the text on the stele translates into some kind of poetry:
“When the sun shines, the moon shines.
When the moon shines, so do the stars.
When the sun goes down, the moon turns red.
Daylight comes and goes, but the sun never shines. “
As vague as it may be, there’s a lot that Zelda fans can separate here – a blood moon? War? History? Typical BOTW tool! You can watch the discussion from the timestamp video below:
But that’s not the only text in the trailer. If you’ve looked closely at the game’s ouroboros-like iconography, there’s a bit of text on each dragon. But listeners think that the inscription on these two lines may suggest a “meeting of lovers”, a bit different from ouroboros!
Of course, this is not confirmed, and some people are less certain as to whether the translation is accurate.
