“Luxury” Pet Hotel Accused of Neglecting Its Residents

Finding a sitter for your dog is becoming increasingly difficult as not everyone is honest about the quality of care they provide. A hotel in San Francisco claims to be a “luxury” accommodation, but reviews say it’s not. After two TikTok users created a video explaining their experience, the hotel garnered a lot of negative attention.

Customers claim their dogs were neglected and dirty when they were received. Some of the services they paid for were also not provided. Instead of apologizing or making changes, businesses are now inactive on their social media accounts and restrict comments on their profiles.

The truth emerges

A TikTok user named Michelle posted a video talking about her dog staying at Wag Hotels in San Francisco (not related to the dog walking company). The hotel charges around $150 a night, so guests expect their dogs to be pampered, but according to Michelle, that’s not true.

In the video, Michelle explains that she paid extra to have access to the camera in her dog Miso’s room 24/7. She said they didn’t give her access to the camera until his second day there. Then, when she picked him up, he was already in rough shape.

Michelle said: ‘When I picked him up, he had urine all over his body, all over his feet, all the way to his elbows and he was in a very, very bad state of mind.

Michelle believes Miso was not provided with proper accommodation and was abandoned. Wag Hotels admits that Miso’s stay did not go smoothly, but they deny any abuse. They said the delay in accessing the camera was due to a malfunction.

@_mitchiemitchie DO NOT LEAVE YOUR PETS WITH THE WAG HOTEL // please tag a California co-worker for each owner. how sick and horrifying I am @Wag Hotels | Pet Resort treated miso during his vacation last weekend. Our pet is our family and I was trusted to provide him with a high level of care, which obviously didn’t happen. I can’t fathom how a clean, healthy, well-trained dog would be willing to roll in the urine all weekend when it has NEVER done so. what did you do to my dog and why are you refusing to send the camera feed i paid for during my stay at his “suite deluxe”? #dogsoftiktok #waghotels #pethotel #goldendoodle ♬ original sound – michelle

Another customer spoke up

After Michelle’s video gained attention, another former client decided to create a similar TikTok. A woman named Cilla Chan had taken her dog, Cobie, to the same Wag Hotels location two months earlier. She posted a review on Yelp, but she decided to go into the details on TikTok.

According to Cilla, she had access to Cobie’s footage, but she was not satisfied with what she saw. She said the playgroups were overcrowded and her dog was filthy. However, the worst thing is that they never feed Cobie on time. She said they fed him hours after his usual dinner time, and once they didn’t feed him until 10:55 p.m., after she called and emailed several times.

“We are reasonable people: if they deliver the food a little later than usual, we will understand. But this is frankly animal abuse. A complete scam of a business. We wish we had read more Yelp reviews for this business that said the same thing. We are sharing this to prevent other dog parents from making the same mistake,” wrote Cilla in her review.

Many other customers also left similar reviews, but these two videos finally caught the attention of viewers. Businesses often make excuses that they’re understaffed, but some reviewers have pointed out that they shouldn’t have so many dogs back then. If you’re paying for a luxury hotel, your dog shouldn’t be treated so badly.

@cillachan @_mitchiemitchie thank you so much for sharing your experience. I’m sorry to hear what happened to Miso 💔. So many friends who know our plight shared Michelle’s video with us today because many of the same things happened to us and our beloved dog @CobieTheDoodie in June 2022—everyone. please join us in spreading the word anout @Wag Hotels | Pet Resort and their mistreatment of animals in their care. #WagHotels #dog #abuse #dogsoftiktok #pethotel #goldendoodle ♬ original sound – Cilla Chan
