Ravichandran Ashwin misses flight to UK after testing positive for COVID-19: Report

Premium off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin A BCCI source told PTI on Monday he had not traveled to the UK with his teammates for a one-time ‘Fifth Test’ after testing positive for COVID-19. Ashwin is currently in quarantine and will only join the team after meeting all protocol requirements. Team India departed for the UK on June 16. “Ashwin did not travel with the team to the UK because he tested positive for Covid 19 prior to departure. But we hope Hopefully he will recover in time before the test match begins. July 1,” a BCCI source told PTI on condition of anonymity.
“However, he could miss the practice match against Leicestershire,” the source added.
The rest of the team were in Leicester and started training under the supervision of bowling coach Paras Mhambrey and batting coach Vikram Rathour.

Rahul Dravid, Rishabh Pant and Shreyas Iyer arrived in London after wrapping up its T20 mission against South Africa and will head to Leicester on Tuesday.
Ireland team under VVS Laxman will depart for Dublin on 23 or 24 June as the team members have been given a three-day rest.
