Simple ideas that will make shelter dogs very happy They will bathe you with kisses
Shelter life is SURPRISE! We understand. It just can’t seem to add another item to your daily to-do list. Take heart! Enrich can be simple, quick and inexpensive. Remember, even the smallest changes make a big difference.
Make a commitment to your dogs. Then contact support. You’ll find volunteers who want to do the work, sponsors who will buy items from your wish list, and foster homes who will give the dogs a temporary break.
But you don’t even need sponsors to buy the items for you. You have tons of wealth tools at your fingertips!
Here are three simple ideas to keep your groomed dogs happy and they’ll want to hug you with kisses:
BUSY:
Fill empty or small bins with things to do, smell and taste – even dog meals. Wrap each item so tightly that it will be difficult for the dog to get it out. Some ideas for bucket items: a stuffed Kong, a rag soaked in beef broth, a ball, a ball, a water bottle or PVC pipe with a few snacks, etc.
BUSY BOX:
Collect empty toilet rolls, cereal boxes, pasta boxes, and other old boxes and stack them inside the other. In the middle of each box, place delicious treats and snacks. Some dogs really like to shred items in their kennels. Busy boxes are a cheap and easy enrichment tool your volunteers can create and your dogs can enjoy.
ICE TREATMENT: You can make these in large buckets or old milk jugs that have been cut in half, mugs, ice trays, Dixie cups, or other containers. Choose the right size for your dog’s needs. Depending on the size you choose, you can use this to feed an individual meal or even for the day, so keep portions in mind.
