Missing, tiny dog ​​reunites with family after journeying to another town on his own


Chihuahua is tiny, weighing only 4 pounds, but the little dog plays an overwhelming role in her family.

So when the 10-year-old dog disappeared from the yard of their home in Polk County, Florida, Tiny’s family was distraught. Owner Sophia Burgess posted flyers and photos of her missing dog on her neighborhood and social media, but to no avail. Soon after, Tiny was missing for 3 months.

Then, one day, a gray Chihuahua matching Tiny’s description was found on Clearwater Beach, about 67 miles away. The staff who rescued the puppy took it to animal control, where workers searched for a microchip. Lo and behold, it’s Tiny.

“If only Tiny could talk, she could shed some light on how she got from Bartow to Clearwater Beach more than three months after going missing,” Clearwater Police Department post on Facebook. “But Tiny was a dog, and you guessed it, a tiny puppy back then. She weighs only 4 pounds and is 10 years old. And she couldn’t talk”.

Tiny’s owners jumped into their car and ran to Clearwater to claim their missing puppy from the shelter. Sophia dared not tell her children that their beloved dog might have been found – in case there was any confusion.

“They are very grateful and very excited,” speak Jenna Wiese, an animal control officer who witnessed the warm family reunion. “You can feel gratitude.”

Sophia’s children are also overjoyed to bring Tiny home. “They cried like babies”, she speak. This emotional moment is truly a dream come true for Sophia’s teenage daughter, Jaliyah, who recently dreamed of Tiny returning home.

If only Tiny could talk, she could shed more light on how she got from Bartow to Clearwater Beach…

There are still a lot of questions surrounding Tiny’s mysterious journey to Clearwater, a town whose owner, Sophia, has never even visited herself. Despite that, the Clearwater officer who rescued Tiny was only happy when the elderly puppy was back home.

“It’s great to know that a family is reunited with their four-legged loved one” speak Officer Ryan Kenna, who found Tiny on the beach shortly after Christmas. “It’s the perfect time of year right after Christmas and starting the new year on a better page for the family.”
