Outdoor shower bed continues to close underperforming locations, with dozens of closures planned for early this year.
The company released a list of 37 locations spread across 19 states where liquidation sales have begun and stores are expected to close by the end of February. It includes five Bed Bath stores in California, seven stores in New York and one store in New Jersey.
In 2020, Bath Beds announced they plan to close about 200 of their core banner stores in two years, as part of its broader turnaround effort. It is also in the process of remodeling locations to reduce clutter and add brighter signage and new brands.
When Bed Bath reports third quarter financial results on Wednesday, the home appliance retailer said it has closed about 170 locations so far and is still on track to hit 200 by the end of the year.
CEO Mark Tritton told analysts the company will explore more closures in the future. It also features the BuyBuy Baby banner, which was a bright spot for the business in the latest quarter as sales of homeware and bathing suits at Bed Bath slowed.
“We’re making a complete transition and at the same time operating a business in a very unpredictable environment,” Tritton said on an earnings conference call.
Shares of Bed Bath are down about 31% over the past 12 months.
