Spanish bishop loses church power after marrying porn author
Novell became Spain’s youngest bishop in 2010, at the age of 41, when he was assigned to Solsona, a small city north of Barcelona in Spain’s northeastern Catalonia region.
In September, Novell resigned as bishop – as the Vatican approved and announced in its newsletter that month.
Now, following his marriage to Caballol, Novell can no longer “exercise the rights and functions inherent in the bishop’s office,” a statement from his diocese said.
Both Novell and Caballol have yet to issue a statement regarding Novell’s suspension of clerical power or their recent marriage.
She is described on the publisher’s website as “a person who always aspires to live life to the fullest” and a “seeker of new emotions and sensations.”
Lacre also calls Caballol a “dynamic and unruly author who has carved a niche for himself in the thorny literary world to overturn all of our moral and ethical considerations.”
One of Caballol’s novels – titled “Gabriel’s Hell” – promises to transport readers to a world where they will find “psychopathy, sectarianism, sadism, madness, immorality, and the brutal struggle between good and evil, between God and Satan, and between angels and demons.”
