Mid-Range TVs

TCL 5-series

This is the sweet spot for most TV buyers, where you’ll find great technology and a good interface for a relatively low price.

Amazon, Best buy

5-Series is The best TV under $500. You get a quantum dot display, an Android TV interface, and compatibility with Alexa. Plus, the included voice remote makes it easy to find your favorite content. It usually drops to this price.

Amazon, Best buy

If you want something a little bigger than the TCL above, then this model from Samsung is a solid choice. I love that it has Alexa built in, so you can set a timer and ask it the weather. (You can turn off Alexa if you don’t want to use it.)

Amazon, Walmart

Hisense may be a lesser known brand, but it actually makes some great TVs. Take this U8G for example. You get the quantum dot color, IMAX Advanced Certificationand Android TV built in. Hisense’s ULED backlighting technology is also excellent, providing plenty of brightness for well-lit rooms.

Amazon, Target

Sony’s 48-inch OLED display offers stunning picture quality, with the inky black OLED screen so famous. The only downside to this one is that it lacks the ability to play 4K . videos at 120 Hz, which means you might not want to pair it with Sony’s Playstation 5 if you want the smoothest possible gameplay experience.

Big screen

Looking for a big screen to watch your favorite teams or TV shows? Here are two good options.

Best buy

The quantum dot technology inside this 75-inch Samsung makes it bright and vibrant, perfect for larger living rooms with windows. I also love the bracket in the center pedestal, which allows the giant TV to fit on a standard-size TV console.

Amazon, Best buy

Sony is another good big TV maker and this one comes with Android TV built-in, plus Alexa compatibility for easy searching. It also features Sony’s excellent MotionFlow XR technology, which helps clarify high-speed objects like players and balls when watching sports, as well as all the on-screen action when gaming. 85 inch model also on sale for $2,000 ($500 off).

After a long-term upgrade? Here are the best deals on some of the best-looking TVs on the market.

Amazon, Best buy

This is Samsung’s 4K flagship, and it’s an amazingly beautiful TV (8/10, Recommend with WIRED). Mini LED backlighting combines with the company’s Neo QLED quantum dot technology to make it the best display we’ve seen in a bright room (and one of the best we’ve seen in a dark room). ).

Target, Best buy

If you have a dark room to watch it (or any room, really), the C1 is the best-looking TV I’ve seen this year (8/10, Recommend with WIRED). It’s also great for gamers, thanks to its HDMI 2.1 and input 120 Hz . refresh rate for super smooth motion on the screen.
