2025 Porsche Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid is more powerful than most supercars

Porsche is filling in Third generation Panamera lineup with new mid-range GTS variants and the range-topping Turbo S E-Hybrid. While neither variant is really a surprise in terms of what it offers, the Turbo S in particular is not only the fastest and most powerful Panamera But it is the second most powerful internal combustion engine road car Porsche has ever built, beaten only by the the 918 Spyder.

The new Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid uses Porsche’s twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 as its base engine, making 591 horsepower. Add to that a 187-horsepower electric motor integrated into the PDK dual-clutch automatic’s transmission housing and cooling circuit, and the Turbo S produces a total of 771 horsepower and 737 pound-feet of torque. That’s 81 horsepower and 96 lb-ft more than the old Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid, and 131 horsepower and 147 lb-ft more than the 911 Turbo Sand it’s 104 horsepower and 207 lb-ft less than the 918 Spyder. To put that in perspective, the new Panamera is a McLaren 750S And Ferrari F8 Tributoand even GMA T50.

Porsche says the Turbo S will accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in just 2.8 seconds and reach a top speed of 202 mph, which is 0.2 seconds and 8 mph quicker than the previous generation model. At the Nürburgring, Lars Kern set a time of 7:24.17, a new record for a luxury sedan that’s 5.64 seconds faster than Kern’s 2020 lap time in the previous Turbo S. That means the Panamera is faster around the famous track than cars like the Porsche Carrera GT and Tesla Model S Plaid.

The new Turbo S’s larger 25.9 kWh battery pack can hold 45 percent more energy than before, and its recuperation power during regenerative braking has also been increased, but Porsche hasn’t said how much electric-only range it will get. The Turbo S comes standard with Porsche Active Ride suspension, large carbon ceramic brakes, and 21-inch center-lock wheels. A new carbon fiber aero kit is optional, with a lift-reducing front apron, different side skirts and wings, and a Gurney flap on the adaptive rear wing; Porsche says it increases downforce by 132 pounds at 124 mph. Stickier Porsche-specific Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires, sized 275/35 up front and 325/30 at the rear, are also optional.

If the Turbo S E-Hybrid is overkill for you but you still want a V8 and performance, the new Panamera GTS is for you. It uses the same twin-turbo V8, just without any hybrid assistance, with a total output of 493 horsepower, 20 more than the Previous generation GTS(Porsche hasn’t released a torque figure yet.) It takes just 3.6 seconds to hit 60 mph, 0.1 second quicker than before, and the GTS will top out at 188 mph. Porsche says the GTS’s sports exhaust is designed to produce a “powerful, emotional sound,” and the engine is tuned to deliver “remarkably clear” linear power even above 6,000 rpm.

The GTS also gets things like a dual-valve, dual-chamber air suspension with a 0.4-inch lower ride height, reinforced anti-roll bars, and a limited-slip differential with Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus. Like all Porsche GTS models, the Panamera gets black exterior trim, more aggressive bumper designs, Dark Bronze exhaust tips, the same 21-inch center-lock wheels as the Turbo S, and plenty of suede trim and contrasting Carmine Red or Slate Gray Neo accents inside.

Both new Panamera The variants are available to order now, with deliveries scheduled to begin late in the first quarter of 2025. The Panamera GTS will start at $156,195 including $1,995 for destination, splitting the difference between the $128,795 4S E-Hybrid (with the V6) and the $192,995 Turbo E-Hybrid (with the V8). Meanwhile, the Turbo S E-Hybrid starts at $228,495, nearly a Taycan Turbo GTand if you have fun during the configuration process, you can cross the $300,000 mark.
