2025 Porsche Macan range expands, new entry-level and mid-range models priced in Australia

Electricity Porsche Macan The product range has been expanded before the first models reach Australian customers.

Porsche has opened orders for the new entry-level Macan and the mid-range Macan 4S, with customer deliveries expected in the first half of 2025.

The Macan is priced as $128,400 before on-road costs$6,000 cheaper than the all-wheel-drive Macan 4.

The 4S The slot between 4 and Turbo, priced at $149,300 before on the road – $35,100 cheaper than the premium version.

This new base model is the first time the Macan is offered with rear-wheel drive.

Like other Macan models, it uses a 100kWh (total) battery, although the SUV is 110kg lighter than the Macan 4 due to the lack of a second electric motor.

The claimed operating range is 654km in the ADR 81/02 test.

The car has a single rear-mounted electric motor, shared with the Macan 4, producing 250kW or 265kW when turbocharged. Maximum torque is 563Nm.

That helps the car accelerate from 0-100km/h in 5.7 seconds, 0.5 seconds slower than the Macan 4.

The 4S version is equipped with the electronically controlled Porsche Traction Management (ePTM) system, which Porsche says allows power to be distributed between the front and rear axles five times faster than with a conventional all-wheel drive system.

The car gets a new rear axle motor with a 600-amp silicon carbide pulse inverter (up from 480 amps on the base and 4 models).

Total system output is 330kW (or 380kW with turbocharging), with peak torque of 820Nm.

The car can accelerate from 0-100km/h in 4.1 seconds, while the ADR 81/02 operating range is 619km.

Porsche Active Suspension Management electronic damper control is standard, and you can also add adaptive air suspension, Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus and rear-axle steering.

Like the Turbo, the 4S also comes standard with a panoramic glass sunroof, Bose surround sound system, matrix LED main headlights and four-zone climate control.

All Macan models feature an 800-volt architecture and up to 270kW of DC charging power, with Porsche claiming the 100kWh battery can charge from 10 to 80 percent in around 21 minutes using a suitable fast-charging station.

All models can now be ordered with a new Slate Grey Neo exterior paint finish, while there’s an optional off-road design package with a redesigned front bumper that increases the approach angle by up to 17.4 degrees depending on the model.

When equipped with this package and adaptive air suspension, ground clearance is increased by 10mm, reaching 195mm.

The Macan is the first Porsche to use the Porsche electric platform and the company’s second electric vehicle after the Taycan.

No combustion-powered version will be offered, so existing Macan buyers will need to either switch to electric power or upgrade to Cayenne if they are petrol enthusiasts.

The Macan has a drag coefficient of 0.25.

All Macans coming to Australia come standard with privacy glass, adaptive cruise control, blind spot monitoring and surround view cameras.

Inside, all models get a 12.6-inch curved display, a 10.9-inch passenger display, and an augmented reality information display.

The infotainment system has been updated with new “emotional” welcome animations and a Themes app that lets you change the screen background color and ambient lighting.

Porsche’s first electric SUV will launch here in Q4 2024 with the previously revealed Macan 4 and top-of-the-line Macan Turbo variants.
