2025 Cupra Terramar: Sporty Tiguan sibling confirmed to arrive in Australia with plug-in power
The Cupra Terramar 2025 has been revealed as the Spanish brand’s sporty version of the Volkswagen Tiguan and will come to Australia with a choice of petrol and plug-in hybrid engines.

So far, Cupra Australia has confirmed at least two powertrains will be offered to local Terramar buyers when the car launches next year: a turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder and a 1.5-litre plug-in hybrid four-cylinder.

The non-hybrid Terramar will produce 195kW and drive all four wheels through a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.
In the upcoming Tiguan R-Line is related and Skoda Awesome This top-of-the-line Sportline engine produces 400Nm of torque.
Cupra has yet to release detailed power figures for the Terramar plug-in hybrid (PHEV), although in Europe the Tiguan eHybrid has the same powertrain, producing 150kW in front-wheel drive and 200kW in all-wheel drive, both mated to a six-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.
All Cupra Terramar versions come standard with sports suspension, advanced steering, adaptive chassis control and Akebono high-performance brakes.
The exterior design is an evolution of Cupra’s current design language that we recently saw on the facelifted Formentor, with triangular details throughout the car including the HD matrix LED headlights.
At the rear, the full-width taillights integrate the brand logo in the middle, while the Terramar name is also illuminated.
These sit above the rear bumper and are joined by a body-colored diffuser, similar to the top-spec version. Lion VZx hatchback.
Cupra will offer the Terramar in nine exterior colours, including matte Century Bronze and Enceladus Grey finishes, as well as the new Dark Void – inspired by DarkRebel Concept.
Inside, the cabin design feels familiar to current Formentor owners, with a flat-bottomed steering wheel, 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, and 12.9-inch infotainment touchscreen.
Like other Volkswagen Group models, the automaker has addressed complaints by backlighting the tactile climate control sliders at the bottom of the display – just don’t expect the physical “click” of actual buttons.
The gear selector has been moved from its traditional location on the center console to the gear lever, although the driver can still change gear ratios manually using the paddle shifters behind the steering wheel.
Cupra claims at least 73 percent of the Terramar’s interior Dinamica upholstery is made from recycled fabric or leather, while its Seaqual Yarn textile is fully recycled.
Instead of the Beats-branded audio system on current Cupra models, Terramar has switched to a 12-speaker Sennheiser audio system.
Occupants also enjoy Cupra’s unique interior ambient lighting system, which features blind spot warning for the driver.
Australian pricing and specifications for the Cupra Terramar will be announced closer to its launch in this market.
