2024 Mitsubishi ASX update revealed in Europe

Mitsubishi gave his European perspective on ASX SUV an overhaul.

The new small SUV follows in the footsteps of the updated version Renault Captur Based on that, but with a new appearance to help differentiate more clearly.

The grille is particularly unique ASXwith angular motifs that cleverly blend with the Mitsubishi badge and plenty of glossy black.

Inside, the European ASX gets the 10.4-inch touchscreen upgraded from the Captur, but swaps the 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster for a 7.0-inch screen, at least according to the consumer website. Dutch consumption.

Globally, the updated Captur is available with six powertrains on three fuel types. These include two turbocharged petrol engines, two 12V mildly turbocharged petrol engines, one dual-fuel petrol-LPG engine, as well as a series-parallel hybrid powertrain called the “E-Tech full hybrid”. It’s unclear whether all will be offered on the Mitsubishi.

We reached out to Mitsubishi Australia to see if the European model has a chance of replacing the current ASX locally.

Mitsubishi is expected to make a decision on the vehicle that will replace the ASX before the end of 2023, but has not yet made any announcements about Australia.

They are now considering an Asia-focused version of the Xforce upgraded to meet Australian standards or a rebranded product from the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi Alliance – possibly a compete with rivals. Renault Captur like ASX Europe.

The current ASX, which accounts for almost 15% of Mitsubishi’s Australian sales in 2023, has been on sale locally since 2010. It has received many styling and technology upgrades, but is now beyond its prime. which most vehicles will achieve in about 5 years. replaced by a new car.

If it is stopped, Cross eclipse (or its replacement, soon to be available in some parts of the world) will be forced to serve as the starting point for Mitsubishi’s local SUV lineup.

If it doesn’t bring the Xforce version to Australia, Mitsubishi may be forced to sell the Renault Captur, which has been renamed ASX. The Captur is currently sold in Australia so it meets local safety and emissions standards and is equipped with right-hand drive.

However, the challenges Mitusbishi faces with that approach are twofold.

The first was to persuade its Alliance partner at Renault to build the renamed right-hand drive Captur for Australia in sufficient numbers; The second is to sell it.

The Captur is a fundamentally different vehicle to the current ASX, competing at a different price point. Mitsubishi is targeting the luxury market with Outlander SUVslarger and more expensive than the car it replaced, and did the same thing with New Triton.

Mitsubishi has also been burned before with rebranded Renault products in Australia.

The Show valve has been renamed Renault Traffic Introduced to Australia by Mitsubishi in 2020 and discontinued in mid-2022. Immediately after launch, it was given a 0-star ANCAP safety rating due to the lack of safety assistance features common to rivals. .
