Kia Australia has quietly announced pricing and specifications for the upgraded version Hybrid Sorento (HEV)again offered in top-spec GT-Line trim with a choice of front-wheel drive (FWD) and all-wheel drive (AWD).

Price of Kia Sorento GT-Line HEV 2024 From $70,330 before on-road costs in FWD guise and $73,330 plus on-road costs with AWD, represents a $3580 price increase over pre-facelift MY23 models.
Hybrid versions are also around $5000 more expensive than the V6 FWD and Diesel AWD versions and are not offered drive-away prices.
It is understood that the Sorento HEV will remain short of supply, with a monthly national allocation of around 20 units. The Sorento Plug-in Hybrid (PHEV) is also expected to launch soon with similar upgrades and an even tighter supply of about 10 units per month.
Key changes to the MY24 Sorento HEV are in line with the petrol and diesel ranges, with the electrified SUV featuring a fresh exterior design as well as an updated interior and enhanced technology suite.
The Sorento HEV’s powertrain is carried over from the previous facelifted model, meaning it is equipped with a 169kW/350Nm 1.6-litre turbo-hybrid system comprising a 44kW/264Nm electric motor and a lithium-ion polymer battery 1.49kWh.
The competitors include the relevant new generation Hyundai Santa Fe hybrid, now available from $55,500 before on-road costs. The Santa Fe Hybrid is also available in the more expensive Calligraphy ($75,500). The Toyota Kluger Grande AWD Hybrid currently priced from $80,230 plus on-roads.

Service and warranty
The Kia Sorento lineup is covered by one Seven-year warranty, unlimited kilometers. High-voltage battery and engine components for electric vehicle models are covered by a 7-year or 150,000 km warranty.
Regular maintenance is required every 12 months or 10,000 km – whichever comes first. Kia models using turbocharged gasoline engines have shorter mileage than naturally aspirated gasoline and turbocharged diesel engines.

It’s worth noting that the updated Australian range doesn’t have more airbags like the Korean models, which do have rear inflators and a driver’s knee airbag – bringing the total to 10.
Local models also seem to miss out on ‘reverse guide lights’ similar to the tail lights of Genesis models.
