2023 Volkswagen Tiguan Allspace scores IQ.Drive in Malaysia – AEB, ACC; new wireless charger; from RM167k
Volkswagen Passenger Cars Malaysia (VPCM) updated Tiguan Allspace with the IQ.Drive driver assistance system suite, which is standard on all three available variants: LifeElegance and R-Line 4Motion.
With the addition of IQ.Drive, Tiguan Allspace now comes with Front Assist (automatic emergency braking), Adaptive Cruise Control, Side Assist (blind spot monitoring), Side Cross Traffic Alert. rear and Lane Assist. The three-row SUV is also now standard with a wireless phone charger.
Apart from these changes, the rest of the kit list remains unchanged from before. This also applies to powertrains, with Life and Elegance continuing to feature the 1.4-litre, turbocharged, 4-cylinder TSI engine that produces 150 PS (148 hp or 110 kW). ) and 250 Nm of torque, mated to a six-speed dual-clutch transmission. .
Meanwhile, the R-Line 4Motion is equipped with a 2.0-liter turbocharged, 4-cylinder TSI engine that produces 220 PS (217 hp or 162 kW) and 350 Nm of torque. This is paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission as well as a 4Motion all-wheel drive system.
VPCM also notes in its release that the Tiguan Allspace along with other IQ.Drive equipped models, namely the Golf GTI and Arteon, are eligible for the Volkswagen Guarantee Package (VAP). This provides owners with a 5-year, unlimited-kilometers manufacturer’s warranty as well as a free maintenance plan of 45,000 km for 3 years.
Depending on the model chosen, the VAP is worth between RM8,000 and RM10,000, the company said. Instead, customers who opt out of VAP get a two-year, unlimited-kilometer warranty – five-year roadside assistance provided regardless. In essence, if you choose not to use a VAP, you are trading off a longer warranty period and free maintenance for a lower car price.
On that note, the Tiguan Allspace currently starts at RM166,590 on the uninsured road for the entry-level Life variant. Next up is the Elegance which retails for RM195,590, while the top-end R-Line 4Motion is priced at RM247,073.60.
Keep in mind that these metrics have no VAP. If you want the extended warranty and free maintenance, Life and Elegance’s asking prices will increase from RM8,000 to RM174,590 and RM203,590, respectively. As for the R-Line 4Motion, the VAP for the top one costs RM10,000, so it would be RM257,073.60.
