2023 Mercedes-Benz GLC300 4Matic launched in Malaysia – 2.0T mild hybrid; AMG series; from RM430k

The second-generation Mercedes-Benz GLC made its debut in Malaysia today, with Mercedes-Benz Malaysia (MBM) offering the redesigned SUV in a single GLC300 4Matic AMG Line variant. Specified as X254, Latest GLC was revealed globally in June to continue to take on the BMW X3, Volvo XC60 and Audi Q5.

Compared to it predecessorfound about 12,000 buyers here since launch introduced in 2016, the new GLC is a slightly larger car, measuring 4,716 mm (+60 mm) long, 1,890 mm wide (unchanged), 1,640 mm high (-4 mm) and the wheelbase is now 2,888 mm (+15 mm). These modifications represent a slight change to interior space, but you get 70 liters more trunk space compared to 620 liters before.

In terms of design, the GLC is updated with the brand’s Sensual Purity philosophy while retaining the familiar general shape. Notable cues include a new five-sided front grille that connects with sharper headlights, with the headlights now featuring more distinctive daytime running lights with full and dashed lines. The GLC version for the Malaysian market comes with top-of-the-line Digital Light headlights instead of the base LED High Performance system.

The standard AMG Line exterior package for our market has also been revised. The tweaked front bumper now comes with an even more prominent A-wing profile, more subtle windscreens at the corners and black accents.

In contrast, the rear bumper comes with a chrome trim around the exhaust, and the previous diffuser-like unit has been replaced with a fake skid plate. Also part of the redesign are the narrower and more organic taillights, which come with new graphics (no more circular elements) and are linked by a black border running across the tailgate. reshaped.

Inside, the new GLC is a complete difference from the previous X253 that appeared since 2015. The (current) ancient console has been overhauled to resemble what you’ll find in Latest C-Classwith the main identification point are the square air intakes and the number of physical control buttons is significantly reduced.

The second reason is that the 11.9-inch central touchscreen is vertically oriented and slightly tilted towards the driver. This is supported by the latest version of the Mercedes-Benz User Experience (MBUX) and an infotainment system that provides access to many vehicle functions such as multimedia, navigation (with real booster and live traffic information), climate control, and Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support.

One consequence of this tight integration is the extremely minimalist center console, which contains only a covered section for two cup holders and a wireless phone charger, as well as an armrest with multiple compartments. more map below. You’ll still have quick access to some functions via the row of buttons directly below the touchscreen, including a fingerprint scanner so you can log in to MBUX quickly using your configuration options.

Ahead of the driver is a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster that is also linked to the MBUX system and comes with several display styles to peruse. As part of the AMG Line package, the GLC features an AMG-designed steering wheel with four distinctive spokes and Nappa leather trim.

In terms of equipment, the GLC comes standard with 20-inch AMG multi-spoke light-alloy wheels, polished aluminum roof rails, aluminum running boards, Mercedes-Benz logo floodlights, illuminated door sill plates with Mercedes- Alphabetical Benz, electric tailgate and Keyless-Go Comfort package.

The list continues with AMG floor mats, black fabric roof covers, Artico man-made leather seats, textured metal trim panels, Thermatic dual-zone climate control, power front seats with memory function position, rear door sunshade and ambient lighting.

Switching to driver assistance and safety systems, the GLC is equipped with passive cruise control, 360-degree camera, Active Park Assist with Parktronic (assisted parking), blind spot monitoring, Assist Active Lane Keeping, Front Safety, Tire Pressure Monitor and Active Brake Assist (automatic emergency braking).

Under the bonnet, the GLC is powered by a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder M254 petrol engine that delivers 258 PS (255 hp or 190 kW) at 5,800 rpm and 400 Nm of torque from 2,000 to 3,200 rpm. This engine is mated to a 9G-Tronic nine-speed automatic transmission, 4Matic all-wheel drive as well as a 48-volt mild-hybrid system.

The last entry is new for the GLC here, and the system features an integrated starter alternator (ISG) that can deliver a boost of 23 PS (23 hp or 17 kW) and 200 Nm. The ISG also allows functions such as downhill and comfortable engine start-stop.

Mercedes-Benz claims a 0-100 km/h time of 6.2 seconds and a top speed of 240 km/h with this mild hybrid powertrain. Other driving-related systems include the Agility Control suspension with selective damping and Dynamic Select driving modes.

As for the price, the GLC300 4Matic AMG Line retails for RM429,888 on the road is uninsured, with numbers including the standard four-year warranty. It should be noted that the new GLC arrives as an imported complete unit (CBU) model unlike the upcoming Malaysia-made X253 (CKD).
