2023 DS3 facelift – two petrol, modified EV powertrain for compact crossover; EV range up to 398 km WLTP
The upgraded DS 3 compact crossover has made its debut for the first time, continuing to offer both internal combustion and all-electric powertrains – as with sample before upgrade – from its debut ahead of its scheduled public debut at the Paris Motor Show.
Crafted exclusively in Poissy, France, the DS 3 brings slight modifications to the exterior that already lends considerable refinement, with noticeable changes to the front, where the vertical daytime running lights and lights are. The mechanical specification for the zero-emissions DS 3 E-Tense is where the changes to the DS3 are more obvious, where the EV gets an all-new electric motor under DS Automotive; this operates at 400 volts and produces 155 hp and 260 Nm of torque, up from 136 PS before while torque output remains the same.
Energy storage has been slightly increased with the DS 3 facelift. Compared to the 50 kWh battery of the pre-upgrade model, there is now a 54 kWh battery (51 kWh available capacity) with thermal control via liquid circulation and heat pump for improved range and longevity longevity.
The DS 3 facelift can take up to 100 kW of DC charge, allowing for 0-80% of the battery to be replenished in 30 minutes, or an 11 kW AC charge that allows for a 0-100% charge in 5 hours and 45 minutes. This results in a range of 398 km in the WLTP cycle, up from the 300 km figure of the previous model.
As for the internal combustion powertrain line, the facelifted DS 3 is offered with two petrol powertrain choices; PureTech 100 with six-speed manual transmission and PureTech 130 with eight-speed automatic transmission. Compared to the pre-renovation range, PureTech petrol variants most closely resemble versions of the 1.2-litre three-cylinder petrol engine with either 100 PS or 130 PS.
The interior of the facelift DS 3 essentially takes on the cabin aesthetic of the pre-renovation model, full of angular, diamond-like lines. The driver gets a 7-inch instrument panel and a head-up display while the infotainment system comes with a 10.3-inch high-resolution central display.
The setup offers DS Iris System-connected navigation and intelligent voice recognition, allowing customization of the central display, and device mirroring can now be done wirelessly .
Active safety in the DS 3 facelift is aided by DS Drive Assist, which provides Level 2 driver assistance by combining adaptive cruise control with stop and go and lane-keeping assist. Active safety braking, or automatic emergency braking, detects cyclists and pedestrians in addition to other vehicles, while extensive traffic sign recognition detects speed limits posted as well as the selected road sign.
The entire range of the facelift DS 3 is connected to services via the MyDS app, which, in the case of a full EV E-Tense, displays range and charging status, and provides programming control programming and pre-conditioning. In Malaysia, the DS 3 Crossback before the upgrade (the updated model dropped the Crossback moniker) was vision by the end of 2021, though that model didn’t launch locally. This is before Brands Citroën and DS turn to Oh Bermaz; this time DS 3 upgrade can appear in our market?
