Morikawa finished T-6 or better in three of his last four starts on the PGA Tour, and he earned a T-9 in his final start at the Arnold Palmer Invitational.
However, Morikawa has struggled a lot with his batting this season, ranking 94th in hits: shots (0.063), 110th in strokes per round (29, 08) and 159th in total hits (287.6). He’s also ranked 213th on the PGA Tour for 100-yard inside approaches, which doesn’t bode well for his chances to top the leaderboard this week.
