The fifth generation Mercedes-Benz C-Class W206 is debut in Malaysia for the first time is a model imported complete unit (CBU) in February this year. Shortly after it went on sale, we reported that the executive sedan was sold out in Marchand C-Class’ orders have since been moved to the locally assembled version (CKD) to be introduced in the second half of 2022.
It looks like a launch could be on the way soon, as Mercedes-Benz dealers in Malaysia have already started posting spec sheets with prices for the W206 CKD, which will again be offered with two the same variant as the CBU counterpart.
Range starts with C200 Avantgarde retail at 287,888 RMmake it 12,000 RM less when compared to Price includes SST afterward CBU version. The top-end C300 AMG Line is also cheaper in CKD form, as it costs RM327.888 – full discount of RM17,000.
In terms of equipment, the CKD variants are nearly identical to the CBU variants, although there are still some minor differences. The electric starter on both CKD variants now has hands-free access, and the safety kit now includes Pre-Safe, the automaker’s front occupant protection system.
In particular, the C300 also has a silver-gray diamond pattern border on the inside, replacing the previous metal woven border. This comes with a silver gray criss-cross patterned center console (same as in the C200) in place of the CBU’s mixed texture metal effect veneer (known as structural metal).
As for the engine, the two available variants are both powered by a turbocharged four-cylinder with an integrated starter alternator (ISG) capable of delivering a boost of 20 PS (20 hp or 15 kW). and 200 Nm.
The C200 is equipped with a 1.5-liter M254 engine that produces 204 hp (201 hp) from 5,800 to 6,100 rpm and 300 Nm of torque from 1,800 to 4,000 rpm. Higher in the line, the C300 has a 2.0-liter version of the M254 with 258 PS (255 hp) and 400 Nm from 2,000 to 3,200 rpm. A 9G-Tronic 9-speed automatic transmission is standard equipment for both engines. We sampled both, so check it out written and videos evaluate.
